Titan 4 Casing

Redesigning and creating brand new pelican case designs for Titan's new product, resulting in more than $16,000 in savings & an improved out-of-box experience

The product needed two separate cases and the task was given to the product team and to me to reimagine the cases to have the maximum out-of-box experience, and usability for carrying and in-field capabilities. I redesigned the cases with CAD so that users would have smooth out-of-box experiences & reduced the price that the projected amount because of my efficiency in design.

Summary

I was presented with an exciting opportunity: to redesign and create new pelican cases for our Titan 4 product. This groundbreaking system was projected to generate millions in sales due to its advanced functionality, and it required two distinct cases to ensure optimal usability and performance in the field.

My focus was clear: to reimagine these cases for maximum out-of-box experience, accessibility, and functionality.

Hydra Lips, an emerging brand in the beauty and personal care industry, sought to set its lip balm products apart in a competitive market. The objective was to create visually appealing packaging that stands out on shelves and a cohesive digital design that enhances online engagement and brand recognition.

The elegant packaging and refined digital design significantly enhanced HydraLips’ brand recognition and customer engagement. The new packaging attracted more customers in retail environments, while the improved digital presence boosted online interactions and sales. Overall, HydraLips successfully established a strong, memorable brand identity in the competitive beauty market.

Hydra Lips' existing packaging was bland and did not capture the attention of potential customers. Additionally, their digital presence lacked the visual sophistication necessary to attract and retain a beauty-conscious audience. The brand needed a comprehensive solution to improve both its physical and digital presentation, thereby boosting sales and customer engagement.

We created elegant packaging for HydraLips' lip balm, featuring soft colors and floral illustrations, enhancing shelf appeal and reflecting the brand's quality. Our digital strategy included a website overhaul and social media redesign, maintaining a cohesive brand image. Comprehensive guidelines were established for consistent branding across all platforms.

Testing and Outcomes

Throughout the design process, I engaged in rigorous testing to ensure that the cases met both functional and usability standards. The iterative feedback from stakeholders allowed me to refine the designs further, enhancing the overall user experience. 1. I incorporated finger notches to improve accessibility, enabling users to open and close the cases effortlessly, even with gloves on. 2. I developed intuitive layouts and clear labeling for less intuitive configurations, improving the training and support processes for end users. 3. I explored improved cord management solutions, such as spools and donut-shaped foam cutouts, to keep cords organized and easily retrievable.

Retrospective

I pushed myself to experiment more with CAD and Onshape, gaining valuable insights into functional hardware and industrial design. The experience taught me the importance of balancing user needs with practical design constraints, ultimately leading to solutions that enhance the out-of-box experience for our customers. The Titan 4 case redesign not only addressed the logistical challenges of transporting advanced technology but also underscored the significance of user-centered design in the defense and aerospace industry. By prioritizing accessibility, usability, and efficiency, we created a product that truly meets the needs of our users in the field and prepares them for success in critical operations.
